Terry Whitlatch has been one of my major inspirations for many years, and recently Barlowe which for some reason I didn't know about. I always loved using actual science and biology - sometimes laced with a bit of fantastical elements in designing creatures and characters - and was really delighted when I found someone like Whitlatch. Her ability to creatively apply scientific knowledge to developing lifeforms is probably second to none; there's a lot of great technical artists out there, but they have no idea what they're putting together. I don't want to be that kind of mindless designer.
